Focus Foundations Toolkit

Free course · Focus & Attention

“Sit Still and Concentrate” Has Never Once Worked. Here’s What Does the Job Instead.

You’ve said it. Everyone has. And you already know how it goes: thirty seconds of stillness, then the pencil is tapping, the chair is tipping, and the worksheet that should take ten minutes is on its fourth restart. Your child isn’t defying you. Settling into work is genuinely costing them more than it costs other children — and telling them to try harder doesn’t lower the cost.

The Focus Foundations Parent Toolkit is the free companion course to the Focus Foundations book — the doing part. Every worksheet as a printable, lessons that go further than the page allows, and a private community of parents working on the same thing at their own kitchen tables.

TL;DR

  1. Focus is a skill that gets stronger with practice — not a character trait your child lacks. This toolkit is the practice, organized.
  2. Sixteen lessons walk alongside the book: the skills attention runs on, then a step-by-step implementation framework, with five printable worksheets.
  3. The book is free. The course is free. The community is free.

What’s inside

  • The guided course — walks alongside the book chapter by chapter, with video lessons that go deeper than print can: the underlying skills attention draws on (visual and auditory processing, working memory, processing speed, body awareness, executive function), how a child’s sense of safety shapes their ability to settle, and the story a child tells about themselves while they work.
  • The printable worksheets — five of them, including a baseline tracker and focus schedules. Paper on the fridge beats a tab in a browser for keeping a plan alive.
  • The parent community — a private space to share a small win, ask the question you didn’t want to ask, and be around people who get it. Parents tell us this is the part that keeps them going.
  • An implementation framework — where to start, what goals are worth setting, how to build up in steps a child can actually take, and how to keep going when novelty wears off.

The child who can’t settle isn’t choosing chaos. Settling is costing them more — and the cost has causes you can work on.

– Laura Lurns

Why free?

Because this is the conversation we want to have with you before any purchase enters it. The book and toolkit show you how we think: skills instead of labels, parents as the primary teachers, short daily work instead of heroic interventions. If that thinking fits your family, you’ll know — and you’ll know it from using the real thing, not from a sales page.

“Better focus in less than three days.” — Leigh Spector

“Her concentration has improved a lot in class… Her handwriting is also smaller and neater.” — Di Parker

Individual parents using Learning Success programs, describing their own child in their own words — not a measured result, and not a pattern we claim across families. We publish no aggregate success figures.

When you’re ready to work on the skills underneath

The toolkit teaches you the layer attention runs on. All Access is where each part of that layer gets its own program: listening-in-noise work in Attentive Ear, visual skills courses, movement and body-awareness work, confidence and emotional intelligence in Brain Bloom, direct reading and spelling practice in the 5-Minute Reading Fix, and number sense for math — plus coaching for you at every step.

It starts with an assessment: a series of questionnaires about what you’re actually seeing at home, about forty-five minutes, asking across every processing system. Within 48 hours of your finishing, your child’s personalized roadmap arrives as a PDF — which skill to build first, which program builds it, and what follows. It’s yours to keep. (Forty-eight hours is how long the document takes to reach you — not a timeline for your child.)

A screener is a starting point, not a diagnosis. If your child might need formal accommodations (an IEP or 504 plan), or you suspect a vision, hearing, or medical cause, pursue a professional evaluation too — that’s the only route to those supports.

Start Free. Go Deep When You’re Ready.

The toolkit is free forever. All Access adds every program and your child’s roadmap.

Try everything free for seven days. Card details are taken at sign-up and nothing is charged during the seven days; cancel any time in the trial, or continue at $69/month or $397/year.

Common questions from parents

Is the toolkit really free?

Yes — the book, the course, the worksheets, and the community. No card, no catch, and it stays free.

Do I need the book first?

The book download is inside the course, so enroll and you get both. The course walks alongside it chapter by chapter.

Is this for ADHD?

It’s for any child who struggles to settle into work, with or without a label — the course describes patterns and skills, not conditions, and nothing here requires or provides a diagnosis. It isn’t a treatment for any condition. If you have concerns about your child’s health or development, your pediatrician is the right first call.

How fast will focus improve?

We make no timeline, and you should be wary of anyone who does. The toolkit gives you a sequence — what to notice first, what to build next — and your family walks it at your own pace.
